Luck is being presented in a co-production with Strut & Fret at two venues in the Garden of Unearthly Delights: 2 weeks at the Umbrella Revolution and 2 weeks at the Bosco Theater (our venue in Edinburgh for those who recall…). Tickets are available online here.

1st Irish Poster

We’re back on the grid as we get ready to start performing Luck at 59E59 Theaters as part of the 1st Irish Festival this week.  The show will run from the 23rd-October 11th and we’ll keep you posted with press, reviews, updates, etc. as we go.

Since our last update, we received a few more lovely reviews, in Time Out London (we’re also a critic’s pick from them) and Scotland on Sunday.  We’ve had excellent crowds and some very special guests in the audience, including Denise Van Outen and Malcolm McLaren.  We also caught Mr. McLaren’s show History is for Pissing on, which was both extremely funny and thought-provoking.

We have a few recommendations for shows to catch in the last week:

Dead Cat Bounce–Wired: These friends of ours from Dublin are tearing up the Fringe with 5-star reviews, sold-out crowds, and barnstorming performances at Spank and Late ‘n’ Live.  They’re exceptionally and maddeningly talented but don’t hold that against them, just go and laugh like crazy.

Sirqus Alfon–Eurotrash: This show is really hard to describe and unlike anything else we’ve ever seen before…four Lycra-clad Swedes perform ’90s dance tunes while upgrading themselves via computer.  It is beyond hilarious.  Plus you get magical 3-D rainbow glasses.

More updates as more press etc. hit the world…

All in all, the show is going well so far with wonderful audience responses.  Our first preview was particularly awesome with a very special surprise guest star–Clarke Peters of The Wire was feeling lucky and came onstage to play blackjack for some whiskey!  He stuck around after the show for a beer and had great things to say.  He’s an entirely lovely guy and we look forward to catching the Fringe show he’s directed, Blondes.

More news as reviews roll in…

In the meantime, we’ve received two pieces of fantastic advance press in Fest magazine: a mention in (and the header image for) an article on the rise of what they term “confessional theatre,” and a further piece that’s a really great preview of the show.

They’ve also selected us as one of their theatre picks of the Fringe!

Back at home, the good folks at Culch.ie ran a great mention of us last week in their Edinburgh Fringe guide here.
